From 16th to 18th October in Croatia at the Museum of Slavonia in Osijek, a second working group meeting was held with a total of 9 partner organizations from Sweden, Estonia, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Italy, and Croatia..

"Grandma's Story" is an international project funded by the European Union's Erasmus + program. The aim of the project activities is to include young people - refugees and migrants - into work and activities of the local community through the development of skills in the interpretation, understanding and valuation of cultural heritage and media in a tolerant and diverse environment. An important part of this activity is collecting grandmothers stories that point to differences between cultures, but also on the importance of respecting the diverse cultural foundations. The secondary goal is to enable employees to collaborate with museums and galleries, heritage non-profit organizations especially those who are close to the place of residence minorities.

At the work meeting, the partners presented the results of the work so far, and great attention was devoted to the design of educational materials that will be available to anyone interested in working with young immigrants and refugees. Namely, the project team develops comprehensive materials and guidelines for the training of people working with youth who will expand and develop their competencies in working with young migrants and refugees in intercultural environments.
The materials will be available on the web platform www.grandmas- story.eu and will be used as guidelines for:

  • organization of digital and pop up exhibitions,
  • creation of migration heritage routes,
  • strengthening the local community,
  • education programs and
  • collecting grandmothers stories.

The next meeting will be held in June 2017 in Coventry, United Kingdom, organized by Culture Coventry.
